About Us

The Major Funeral Home & Chapel is a privately owned and operated corporation.  For your convenience we are centrally located between Dallas and Fort Worth.  The headquarters are located with its current headquarters centrally located in the Dallas and Fort Worth Metroplex in Arlington, Texas.

Our Founder

The Major Funeral Home was founded by Major H. Williams, Sr., 1st Sergeant, Ret. Sgt. Williams volunteered for 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He understands the issues that face each family which experiences a loss. 

The Major Funeral Home was founded to meet the needs of families by providing affordable funerals with dignity and respect.  Ret. Sgt. Williams designed The Major Funeral Home to be the home of the unique "Not One Penny More" philosophy towards funeral services. 

Unlike other funeral homes, The Major Funeral Home was designed to serve a diverse population-- local, national, and international. Because he is well traveled, Ret. 1st Sgt. Williams is sensitive to the funeral rites of diverse cultural and religious groups both near and abroad.

Our History

The Major Funeral Home was formerly the McGowan Funeral Home which was in existence 45 years.

The name was changed to The Major Funeral Home in May of 2000.

Serving the community through guilt-free affordable funeral services.

Our Community Service

We believe in actively giving back to the community. The Major Funeral Home volunteers hundreds of hours each year in community service helping to feed the homeless and rebuild economically depressed areas of south Dallas. 

Our most recent project included the remodel of a dilapidated mansion.  Today "The White House" has been restored to its glory.  It is now used to house the homeless and serve a local non-profit organization. 

We have helped to serve Thanksgiving dinners to hundreds of impoverished families for the past 5 years.   

With each act of service, we remain thankful that we can invest ourselves in helping others.  We make sure that every person from every economic level can have a dignified and affordable funeral.
